Episode 2: To new acquaintances and old friends
[Forgot from the last session. Background vow is to become the most Notorious Outlaw in the Forge. I marked 1 tick from the last session]
[Begin a Session: Defeated enemy or threat makes a surprising return]
Kenzie made her way to her favorite little dive bar called the Astra. It was nothing special to look at. A few ramshackle tables and a large bar in the corner of the room. Half the lights never worked in the place, so it always looked dim inside but that's just the way Kenzie liked it.
After ordering a drink she sat at a table in the back of the place, facing the door, and called Fixer on the communicator.
"Hey Fixer, your problem is solved," Kenzie said taking a gulp of the brown liquid that almost passes for alcohol around these parts.
"Any problems?" Fixer said.
"Not for you." Kenzie laughs. "You're all square. Me on the other hand, well. Let's just say I made an enemy."
[Develop a relationship. Added 2 boxes to her connection with Fixer.]
"What did you do?" Fixer asks, panic in his voice.
"Nothing I can't handle. Don't worry about it. If you come up with any work, let me know. Raven out." Kenzie takes another gulp of her drink as she looks around the common room of the Astra before heading to the bar.
There was a small crowd around the room, not surprising in this place. It always had people in it at all hours of the day. Cheap booze and cheap company are what the Astra offered. Many smugglers hung out here and that's why Kenzie fit in so well. She understood her fellow co-workers. The life of a smuggler was a difficult one.
The owner of the Astra is a retired smuggler herself. An attractive older lady that keeps a scatter blaster under the bar within hand reach of her at all times. Her name is Kiri Winter but everyone calls her Fidget.
[Make a connection with Fidget: Strong hit. You create a connection. Whenever your connection aids you on a move closely associated with their role, add +1 and take +1 momentum on a hit.]
"How's work treating you Fidget?" Kenzie asks as she shits at the bar.
Fidget shrugs as she cleans a glass. "It's okay, I guess. You want another?"
Kenzie nods as Fidget pours the drink and places it in front of her. "Hear about any work lately?"
Fidget looks Kenzie over for a moment. "How long have you been coming here, Raven?"
"Going on six years now, I'd say. Why?" Kenzie takes a swig of her drink.
Fidget nods. "I have something that may interest you in your line of work. Might be tough though."
Kenzie laughs. "I'm not worried about tough. Whatcha got?"
Fidget bends closer to Kenzie. "I have a shipment of something that needs to be delivered to a few clients of mine in Vesper."
"Vesper? Never heard of it."
"It's a small camp on the planet Hope. They ordered something that I was able to procure. Now I need someone to deliver it. Someone that knows their way around customs if you get my drift."
Kenzie nods as she finishes her drink and shakes Fidget's hand. "I think I can help you with that."
Kenzie grabs her Iron necklace. "I swear on Iron to deliver the "supplies" to Vesper"
[Swear an Iron Vow: Strong hit, +2 momentum (already at 10)]
"Fair enough. I'll have it delivered to your ship within the hour." Fidget hands Kenzie a data chip. "Here's everything you need to know on how to find them."
Kenzie takes the chip, "I'll see you soon." and walks out of the Astra.
[Face Danger with wits (Observation): Strong hit +1 momentum (10)]
As Kenzie made her way to the docking bays, she noticed Dagger's goon and a buddy following her. He hadn't picked up on it though so she ducked into an alley and waited.
[Enter the fray (dangerous encounter): Weak hit (You are in control), Secure an advantage: Weak hit (+1 next move) Strike: Strong hit (burned momentum now at 2) marked 2 progress (4 boxes filled)]
Kenzie waited until the goons were at the entrance to the alley and opened fire with her blaster from behind cover. Her first shot hit the little guy right in the chest, dropping him to the ground.
She stepped out of cover and smiled at the bigger goon while pointing her blaster at him.
"How're your jewels," Kenzie smirked.
The goon snarled and reached for his blaster right before Kenzie fired.
[Strike: weak hit, mark progress twice, you are in a bad spot]
Kenzie's aim was true and hit the goon in the leg, he howled in pain and fell to the ground just as Kenzie slipped and fell out from behind the cover. Her blaster flew out of her hands.
"Crap" Kenzie says as she gets up.
[Clash: Weak hit, mark progress, but you are dealt a counterblow or setback. You stay in a bad spot and must Pay the Price. -1 health, Endure Harm: Strong hit, shake it off +1 health]
As Kenzie closes in on the goon, she kicks him in the face while he is on the ground. The goon gets off a shot with his blaster and skins Kenzie's arm.
"Frak that hurt," Kenzie says as she tries to grab her blaster [React under fire: Miss. The situation worsens, you must pay the price] and kicks it further down the alley.
The goon gets up and shoots Kenzie in the back, knocking her to her ground. The smell of burning flesh lingered in the air.
[Endure harm: Miss. The damage was worse than you thought. -1 additional harm. Health (3)]
[Take decisive action: Miss with a match. Kenzie is defeated]
Kenzie is gasping for breath on the ground as the goon walks up to her and points the blaster to the side of Kenzie's head.
"You're lucky Dagger don't want you dead just yet. But she told me to give you a message." The goon says as he aims his blaster at Kenzie's hand and pulls the trigger at point-blank.
Kenzie blacks out.
[End scene. Health 2 Spirit 5 Supply 5. Kenzie is marked Permanently harmed (for now)]
